PEORIA, Ill. – A 22-year-old man has been ordered to remain in jail after his indictment this month on weapons charges.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says Zavon Knox was ordered held until trial at a detention hearing on Monday after his arrest this past weekend.
Knox was indicted on April 1st for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon for allegedly having a fully automatic weapon.
Prosecutors say Knox was with a group of males investigated during a stop at the Stop N Save in the North Valley on January 28th, when the group fled.
Knox was allegedly seen on the store’s surveillance video throwing a black handgun into the store’s dumpster.
The gun reportedly was loaded with an extended magazine and a “switch” to make it fully automatic.
Two other males have been previously charged in the incident.
