PEORIA, Ill. – A man charged in connection to a weekend stabbing in downtown Peoria will remain in jail.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 30-year-old James Holtsclaw was charged Wednesday with Aggravated Battery, where Holtsclaw was ordered detained at a detention hearing.
Prosecutors say police responded to the area of Jefferson and Main just after 1:30 P.M., with the victim saying a male he knew as “Jimmy” walked to him and stabbed him on the left side with a knife, then fled through an alley.
Surveillance video reportedly identified Holtsclaw as the man running through the alley while holding a black object.
He was arrested Tuesday and reportedly found with a knife that had a blood-like substance on the blade.
