PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire on W. Gilbert Thursday evening.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says when they arrived around 5:20 p.m., crews found moderate smoke coming from an unattached garage of a single-family home.
Firefighters made their way into the garage, finding fire. Residents of the nearby home were outside, and unaware of what may have started the fire.
A fire investigator was called to the scene. The cause and origin of the fire is still unknown.
No injuries were reported, and damage is estimated at $1,500.
The fire was contained to the garage. The home was not damaged.
