PEORIA, Ill. – The leader of the Peoria Rivermen is the best in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
The SPHL announced Friday that Jean-Guy Trudel has been named the league’s Coach of the Year for the 2024-25 season. It’s the fourth time Trudel has won the award.
The Rivermen finished this season with 40 wins, tying a record for most wins in a season in the SPHL era. That’s while using a roster of more than 60 players due to injuries, call-ups, and other factors.
Trudel also became the first coach ever in the SPHL to record 400 wins in a career, doing it this season.
The Rivermen continue their playoff run Friday in Evansville, looking to win to keep their season alive after falling 2-0 in Peoria on Wednesday.
