PEORIA, Ill. โ Hundreds of people gathered and marched in downtown Peoria protesting Trump Administration policies.
The event was part of the 50501 movement. A broad coalition of grassroots organizations mobilizing against what organizers and participants call โthe authoritarian takeoverโ of the Administration.
50501 stands for 50 protests, 50 states, one movement.
The Peoria march began at the Gateway Building and made its way to the federal courthouse and to the Peoria County Courthouse, beneath Abraham Lincoln mural where a rally was staged.
Protesters yelled chants such as โHate doesnโt make America great,โ and โHands off our democracy.โ
Participants displayed signs advocating for a number of causes including womenโs rights, the LGBTQ community and protecting Social Security at Medicare.
โWe are sending out the warning,โ protest organizer Theresa Kuhlman told 25 News, โand we are telling Trump, Elon Musk and the dysfunctional politicians on Capitol Hill that we need to be heard.โ
