PEORIA, Ill. โ Improvements could soon come to Peoria Countyโs Courthouse Plaza.
The countyโs Infrastructure Committee on Monday recommended approval of around $6.5 million of work. A vote in front of the full county board is scheduled for May 8th.
The county says the more than 50 year old plaza has seen significant wear and tear over the years, to the point that simple repairs are insufficient. The goal is to replace aging infrastructure to preserve long-term viability, which could lead to more public events at the plaza.
The improvements will focus on modern infrastructure that leads to more predictable and preventable maintenance, with some of the work to include new electrical and irrigation systems and landscaping work.
The project, if approved by the full board, would have a deadline of September 30th for completion.
