SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A date has been set for the murder trial of a former Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy, set to take place in Peoria County.
At a hearing Wednesday, the trial of Sean Grayson was scheduled to begin on October 20th.
He is due back in court on June 6th for a pretrial hearing.
Grayson is accused of First Degree Murder in the death of Sonya Massey last July.
He is alleged to have shot Massey after he told her to put a pot of water down upon an investigation of a “prowler” to her home, with Massey making no verbal threats or movements towards deputies.
A venue change to Peoria County was granted earlier this month.
