SOUTH PEKIN, Ill. – The suspect accused in a double homicide in South Pekin from early Thursday morning has been identified.
Tazewell County Sheriff Jeffrey Lower says 21-year-old Memphis Rue has been charged with First Degree Murder.
Rue was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting at a house off of Route 29, just north of County Road 11000 North.
The shooting at around 4:45 A.M. left 21-year-old Chase Rhodes of Pekin and 21-year-old Dawson Reese of rural Pekin dead.
Autopsies for both are scheduled for Friday.
The shooting is under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.

PEKIN, Ill. – The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office says two people are dead, and one person is in custody after a shooting at a residence near the Pekin Municipal Airport.
Sheriff Jeffrey Lower says the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. Thursday, just off Route 29 in South Pekin.
Officers were called to the scene around 6 a.m. The incident is under investigation.
More details are expected to come later Thursday.
