PEORIA, Ill. โ An RV park could be coming to Wildlife Prairie Park.
The Peoria County Land Use Committee on Monday forwarded a recommendation to the full board of allowing a Special Use permit for 40 RV campsites at the park. The goal is to provide more lodging options at Wildlife.
The plans call for renovating a nearby building and upgrading the Parkside Pavilion on the western side of the park. The health department says the project would need new septic tanks and systems upon approval.
Another request that would be required upon approval would be working with the Highway Department on pedestrian access for visitors from the east side of the park.
Officials say the park would only be open 9-10 months a year, during the peak seasons.
Land Use Committee Chair Paul Rosenbohm says heโs โexcitedโ by the idea.
โPeoria County definitely needs an RV park,โ Rosenbohm said.
The hope is to have the RV park completed and open by this time next year.
