PEORIA, Ill. – March was a banner month for the Peoria Civic Center.
The Civic Center’s General Manager Rik Edgar tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, March was the best financial month in the venue’s 43-year history.
“We saw 162,000 guests come through our doors in a 30-day period,” Edgar says.
The Civic Center events in March included Rock, County, Folk and Classic concerts, Rivermen Hockey, Bradley Basketball, bull riding, Broadway shows and the Peoria Home Show.
Edgar says since the beginning of the year, the Civic Center has seen over 400,000 guests.
“The really cool thing about the number, we actually went and looked this up, is in the Peoria Metropolitan area, which includes Marshall, Stark, Tazewell, Woodford, Fulton and Peoria County…it’s as if ever man, woman and child that lives in this (Peoria) County, came to an event,” Edgar says.
He adds, annual events like the Illinois Music Educator’s Conference and Skills USA are key to the Civic Center’s success, but concerts, Broadway shows and sporting events bring in huge crowds too.
Edgar says April is on-track to be a huge month for the Peoria Civic Center too…with a top-grossing Bob Dillon show and Country legends Brooks and Dunn.
In May, the Civic Center is also hosting two big shows with Comedian Nate Bargatze.
