PEORIA, Ill – The next demolition event on the old McClugage Bridge span is scheduled for Wednesday.
This will be the fourth of eight planned explosive events and will be the biggest of those scheduled as the blast will sever the steel beams to the main truss section of the old span.
Roads around the U.S. Route 150 McClugage Bridge will be closed beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m.. The road closures are expected to last about one hour.
Traffic will be routed off Route 150 at interchange ramps and will be continuously moving. No stopping Route 150 will be allowed.
Wednesday’s blast will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Anyone wishing to watch the demolition in person is reminded that a security perimeter around the blast area will be in effect on land and in the water. Pedestrians are also asked to be mindful of venturing onto private property without the owner’s permission.
