NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State University Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the shots fired incident Sunday, at approximately 7:40 p.m., in the Bone Student Center.
University Police say in an isolated incident, a fight started between two groups of people that ended with someone who wasn’t an ISU student being shot.
The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The person of interest, university police say, fled the scene on foot.
ISUPD responded to the shooting incident with all available resources. They were assisted by Normal Police, Bloomington Police, McLean County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and the Normal Fire Department.

NORMAL, Ill. – Police in Normal are looking for one suspect in connection with a shooting Sunday night at the Bone Student Center on the campus of Illinois State University.
Emergency Alerts from ISU posted on X (formerly Twitter) and on the University website indicated there is one reported victim.
The alert also stated police are looking for one suspect described as a slender 5-foot-10 black male, with “black afro hair style,” wearing all black. The man was last seen running south from University and College Streets in Normal.
Police have stated the suspect could be armed and dangerous. Authorities are advising people to stay away from the Bone Student Center and near University and Locust Streets.
ISU said police are continuing their investigation. Meanwhile, there is no shelter in place order for the ISU campus but the Bone Student Center is closed.
ISU issued its first Emergency Alert at 7:55 p.m. Sunday following of report of shots fired at the Bone Student Center.
