PEORIA, Ill. – A plane full of local veterans and their guardians are headed for the nation’s capitol Tuesday.
The Greater Peoria Honor Flight is scheduled to take off from Peoria’s Wayne A. Downing International Airport around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, bound for Washington, D.C.
The vets will spend the day touring all of the war memorials and sights of D.C. before flying home to Peoria Tuesday night.
Honor Flight organizers are again asking the public to welcome our heroes home at PIA when they return. Shuttles will be provided from the CEFCU parking lot near the airport starting at 8 p.m.
Give yourself some extra time with construction, road closures and bridge maintenance near PIA.
The Greater Peoria Honor Flight is expected to get in between 9:30-1o:00 p.m.
