PEORIA, Ill. – OSF HealthCare is lighting up the Murray Baker Bridge in red, in honor of National Nurses Week, which runs May 6-12.
A lighting ceremony was held Tuesday night at East Peoria Riverfront Park with remarks from nursing leaders, recognizing the dedication, compassion and critical role nurses play in healthcare and in the lives of patients and families across Central Illinois.
The American Nurses Association has lit up over 100 landmarks across the country this week to raise awareness and to celebrate the power of nurses.
The Murray Baker Bridge will glow in red lights this week as a public symbol of appreciation and support for nurses.
“Nurses are the backbone of health care. This lighting is a powerful way for the community to see and share in that recognition,” Jen Croland, chief nursing officer at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center said.
“We’re proud to stand alongside nurses everywhere who make a difference every single day.”
