PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of W. Marengo and N. Lavelle Court Wednesday morning, for a suspended registration.
Officers approached the vehicle just before 10:30 a.m., making contact with five people inside, and finding probable cause to search the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun with a magazine inside.
A 16-year-old male was taken into custody and arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID card, and defacing identification marks on a firearm.
He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center following the arrest.
