PEORIA, Ill. – The case of a fatal shooting a few days before Christmas in Peoria’s East Bluff will be heard in adult court.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 15-year-old Robert Mister was formally charged with First Degree Murder on Friday. A detention hearing for Mister will take place on Monday.
Mister is accused in the December 22nd, 2024 shooting death of 39-year-old James Miller in an East Bluff home. Prosecutors say he was found lying inside the front door with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head and three to the back.
Miller died a short time later at a hospital.
Prosecutors say Mister was identified as a suspect and arrested on December 27th, but claimed self-defense. Juvenile charges were filed against Mister on December 30th.
