PEORIA, Ill. – A man has been sentenced to prison after reportedly shooting at a car in Peoria’s East Bluff in February.
Court documents show that 29-year-old Michael Walder was sentenced on Monday to five years and six months in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
As part of the plea, a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon was dropped.
The incident occurred the evening of February 21. That’s when prosecutors say the car’s owner flagged down police after the rear windshield of his vehicle was shot near the intersection of Prospect and Frye.
The vehicle’s owner confirmed to police that she gave Walder a ride that evening, and he fired multiple shots outside her passenger window at another car.
Walder was arrested a few days later and admitted to the shooting during questioning.
