PEORIA, Ill. – A pair of men allegedly connected to a string of robberies to central Illinois spas will stay in jail until trial.
25 News reports a judge on Wednesday granted prosecutors’ request to hold 32-year-old Titus Alexander and 43-year-old Mitchell Smith, saying they were viewed as “an extreme danger to the community.”
They are due back in court for a pretrial hearing June 5th.
Alexander and Smith appeared virtually in court and entered not guilty pleas, and attempted to have a third party take the witness stand and argue for their release.
Both charged in connection to robbing spas and massage parlors in Peoria, Dunlap, and Jacksonville in April and May. Court documents state at least seven armed robberies since January are being investigated.
