HANNA CITY, Ill. – A Louisiana man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to meet up with a minor.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies were called to Lakeshore Drive in Hanna City on Saturday, after reports of a man running through yards yelling that someone was trying to kill him.
During a search, deputies found a back pack near a lake, and an ID belonging to the man reportedly found to be running through the yards, 39-year-old Rusty Barrilleaux of New Iberia, LA.
An investigation revealed that Barrilleaux was allegedly chatting in a sexual manner with a juvenile on an online dating app, and thought he was meeting with them to take the minor camping. When Barrilleaux arrived to meet up with the juvenile, he was confronted by an adult and fled on foot.
On Sunday morning at around 8:00 A.M., sheriff’s deputies arrived at the area of Murphy Road and Carol Court on a tip received and found smoke coming from the woods of the area. Barrilleaux was found a short time later by a K9 deputy and arrested. A campsite that Barrilleaux had set up was found, where a laptop was reportedly found that contained digital evidence of conservations between Barrilleaux and what he believed was a minor.
Barrilleaux reportedly admitted to trying to meet up with the minor, and was arrested on charges of Indecent Solicitation of Minor, Grooming, and Distribution of Harmful Material to a Minor. He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
