KEWANEE, Ill. – Henry County and Kewanee police are investigating the discovery of a body in a rural area west of Kewanee.
The Kewanee Police Department posted on Facebook Friday a concerned citizen discovered the body while searching properties they had access to.
A positive identification could not be made because of the condition of the body. An autopsy is scheduled Monday in Peoria.
Kewanee police have been actively searching for Catrelle Reed, who last known contact was the afternoon of May 22.
Police posted on Facebook Thursday that Reed’s vehicle was found parked in an alley near his residence by a concerned resident. The vehicle was reported to police prior to Reed being reported missing.
The vehicle was searched by crime scene investigators after the missing person report was filed. Through license plate reader data and surveillance video of businesses and residences, detectives confirmed the vehicle was observed being driven between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. May 23.
Kewanee police say further information will be released as it becomes available.
