PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria emergency crews responded to a rescue call Sunday morning, after a car crashed into a church, sending one person to the hospital.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says firefighters were called to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on N. University Street around 8:40 a.m., finding a car caused “extensive damage”.
The church was evacuated, but no other injuries were reported.
The church was deemed safe by Peoria Community Development, and services were allowed to resume.
Damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
