PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted a Peoria attorney for allegedly voting multiple times in a recent election.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 67-year-old Thorn Smith is facing a felony charge of Voting More Than Once.
Smith allegedly attempted to cast two ballots during the April 1st consolidated election.
Prosecutors say he arrived at his polling place on Election Day, with the election judge’s computer saying he previously received a mail-in ballot.
Smith allegedly signed a form stating he had not previously voted and submitted a second provisional ballot.
The Election Commission noted the second illegal ballot, and did not count it in its final results.
