PEORIA, Ill. – A tattoo artist will remain in Peoria County custody after his arrest Tuesday on allegations of grooming a minor.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 34-year-old Mario Davis was ordered detained at a detention hearing on Thursday.
Prosecutors say police received a report from a 16-year-old on February 12th of explicit text messages sent by Davis, after the minor accepted a friend request from him on Snapchat.
Davis then allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to the 16-year-old, and continued to do so after being told how old the minor was.
A search warrant was executed on Davis’ cell phone and Snapchat account used to chat with the minor, along with GPS data from Snapchat indicating the chats occurred in or around his residence.
