PEORIA, Ill. – One resident was transported to a local hospital following an apartment fire in Peoria.
Firefighters were dispatched to Peoria North Apartments near Lake Avenue and Knollridge Lane around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
Crews found the fire in the kitchen/hallway of a basement apartment. Several occupants were seen evacuating the building as firefighters arrived.
Battalion Chief Stephen Rada says one person was treated at the scene and by Advanced Medical Transport responders before being transported to a hospital with “significant burns.”
All other residents were able to return to their apartments, except for the apartment where the fire originated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
