PEORIA, Ill. – A woman has been charged after allegedly crashing her vehicle into a Central Peoria business Sunday night.
The crash occurred just after 8:15 P.M., where a vehicle crashed into the south side of the Sharkey’s on Sterling and Forrest Hill.
Peoria Police say 27-year-old Malika Gillum sustained minor injuries after the crash and was taken to a local hospital, then released to police.
Gillum was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, and issued numerous traffic citations, then taken to the Peoria County Jail.
Police say two patrons inside the restaurant sustained minor injuries.

PEORIA, Ill. – An SUV crashed into a Central Peoria restaurant Sunday night, but no one inside was hurt.
Emergency crews were called around 8:20 p.m. to Sharkey’s Fish and Chicken at the corner of N. Sterling and W. Forrest Hill.
Fire Battalion Chief Rick Waldron said the SUV crashed through the south wall of the restaurant and was completely inside the building.
The restaurant was open at the time of the crash. Customers, employees, and the driver of the SUV got out of the building safely. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was taken into police custody after declining hospital treatment.
The restaurant is closed until further notice due to extensive damage.
