PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home on W. MacQueen in Peoria Monday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall says when they arrived around 4:50 p.m., firefighters found a single-story home with smoke showing in the back of it.
Occupants of the home got out before the fire department arrived.
Crews put out the fire rather quickly, but stayed on scene for about an hour putting out hot spots.
A fire investigator determined that unattended smoking material caused the fire.
No injuries were reported. Three adults and a dog were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross arranged temporary housing.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
