PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are looking for suspects in a motor vehicle theft that reportedly led to the death of a towing company employee.
Police say officers responded to Billie Jo’s Towing just before 3:45 P.M. Monday on reports of a stolen vehicle.
Police learned that two male suspects entered the vehicle and were fleeing the lot when two employees attempted to close the gate.
The suspects reportedly drove through the gate at a high rate of speed, forcing it open and striking two employees.
One employee suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later. The other employee suffered minor injuries.
The vehicle was later found in the area of Warren and Ann Streets, but the suspects were not found.
The incident is under investigation.
