PEORIA, Ill. – A man has been sentenced for his role in a shooting in Central Peoria last year.
20-year-old Christopher Cleary was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections Wednesday, after pleading guilty to Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm in April.
He was arrested after two vehicles were struck by bullets on June 7th last year, then a home and a vehicle two days later.
Assistant State’s Attorney Brian FitzSimons noted at the sentencing hearing that Cleary had no prior criminal history and no one was injured, but stressed the incident occurred in broad daylight when people were outside.
Chief Judge Katherine Gorman says while Cleary has taken steps to better himself, certain actions could not be overlooked.
