PEORIA, Ill. – Authorities are investigating the discovery of a 73-year-old man found dead in a box truck.
Peoria police say the discovery was made around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of NE Jefferson.
The body was found seated in the truck.
Police said an employee at the business reported the box truck was used for storage purposes and rarely driven.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said it had been apparent the body had been in the truck for some time, maybe more than a month. At this time, Harwood cannot rule out natural causes vs. trauma.
Harwood said the man’s identity will be released once family members are located and notified.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
