PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – The death of a man reportedly struck by a train in rural Peoria County is under investigation.
Sheriff Chris Watkins says the 43-year-old from Bartonville was found dead on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Kickapoo Creek Road and Harmon Highway.
He says evidence collected at the scene indicates the man intentionally laid down on the railroad tracks sometime overnight and was struck by a train.
Watkins says it is believed to be a Union Pacific train that came through the area at around 2:30 A.M. Monday.
He says there appears to be no signs of foul play.
