WASHINGTON, Ill. – The mayor of Washington wants to talk to you.
Wednesday will be the second session of the “Let’s Talk Washington” series. It’s an initiative started by Mayor Lilija Stevens as part of a campaign goal to make government in Washington more transparent.
Wednesday’s session will take place at the city library’s Sunnyland branch at 3:00 P.M.
Stevens says the sessions are aimed to help people get comfortable with talking to city leaders about whatever topic of concern they may have.
“No question is a question that people should be shy about asking,” Stevens said.
The first session held last month featured Chief Stevens and interim City Administrator Dennis Carr. She says one of the main topics brought up at the session was the non-canceled amphitheater project. Stevens says the city goes in with an open mind and lets attendees bring up the topics they would like to talk about.
Stevens says the sessions will be held at different locations throughout the city each month.
