PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters responded early Wednesday morning to a fire alarm at an assisted living facility on W. Richwoods Boulevard in Peoria.
Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall says crews arrived around 3:30 a.m., finding fire in one room. Residents of the facility were exiting the building at that time. Additional companies were called to the scene to assist.
Firefighters helped one person out of the building. The sprinkler system kept the fire under control until crews put it out.
A fire investigator determined the fire was caused by arson.
No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
