PEORIA, Ill. – Severe storms that rolled through Central Illinois on Wednesday brought heavy rain and some tornadoes.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln says tornadoes were reported in Tazewell, McLean and Mason Counties.
The NWS will be conducting damage assessments on Thursday to confirm location of the tornadoes and assign ratings to them if needed.
A rain wrapped tornado on the ground was reported near San Jose at 1:19 p.m. An outbuilding in San Jose was destroyed by straight line winds.
A tornado was also reported on the ground near Delavan at 1:49 p.m.
A tornado on the ground was reported at 1:53 p.m. between Mackinaw and Minier. A tornado on the ground south of Mackinaw was reported several minutes later at 1:56 p.m.
Rain totals for Central Illinois on Wednesday ranged from just under an inch to nearly two and a half inches:
South Pekin: 2.32 inches
Eureka: 2.14 inches
Pekin: 1.94 inches
Kingston Mines: 1.50 inches
Washington: 1.46 inches
Peoria: 1.33 inches
East Peoria: 1.27 inches
Metamora: 1.11 inches
Mackinaw: 0.84 inches
Lewistown: 0.76 inches
