PEORIA, Ill. – Two people escape and four cats are rescued from a house fire in Peoria.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire throughout a two-story home near Frostwood Parkway and Richards Lane when they arrived around 3:22 a.m. Saturday.
Battalion Chief Steve Rada said the two occupants were out of the house, but four cats were still inside.
The fire, which was contained to the living room, was extinguished quickly and crews were able to locate the cats alive and return them to the occupants.
A fire investigator and a fire investigation dog were dispatched to the scene, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
There were no injuries. There was extensive smoke damage throughout the residence.
