PEORIA, Ill. – Another round of road construction projects are slated to get underway, or resume, Monday.
A major upgrade project will begin on Route 9 just west of Tremont to East Street.
That will include pavement patching, resurfacing and widening of the road to add a center turn lane, new bike lanes and new pavement markings. Additionally, a culvert will be replaced.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the work will require intermittent daytime lane closures into summer 2026.
Beginning Monday in Peoria, sewer work will begin on Jefferson Avenue between Blaine Street and Greenlawn Avenue. Jefferson will be closed with traffic control and a reroute for the duration of the work.
Peoria County announced that paving work on Maxwell Road from Charleston to Fairview will resume Monday at 6 a.m. after being delayed due to weather Friday. Motorists should expect long delays of up to 20 minutes and are urged to use an alternate route.
