PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager was arrested after Peoria Police allege a connection to an armed robbery.
Officers responded just before 7:45 P.M. to Logan Park on Saturday after reports of a large crowd and numerous juveniles fighting.
The crowd was broken up, but police attempted to detain the 17-year-old male.
The teenager reportedly fled on foot, and was taken into custody later on in the area of Malone and Westmoreland, with the help of a K-9 unit and aerial drone.
Police say a search of the teenager’s flight path allegedly turned up two discarded handguns.
The 17-year-old was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Possession of a Handgun Under 21, two counts of Possession of a Firearm with no Valid FOID Card, two counts of Possession of Ammunition with No FOID, Obstructing Police, and Resisting Arrest.
He was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
