PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Zoo has a new resident in its “Africa!” exhibit…a Grevy’s zebra.
The zebra came to the Peoria Zoo in March from a Conservation Center in Florida. He’s described as striking and spirited, and he’s already making an impression with his big ears, playful personality and shorter stature.
To celebrate the young zebra’s arrival, the Peoria Zoo is asking the public to help name him.
Each vote costs $1 with all proceeds benefitting the Grevy’s Zebra Trust.
Voting will remain open until July 10, both online and at the Peoria Zoo.
The names to choose from are: Roman, Stripes, Masikio (Swahili for “ears”), Radar, Jimmy and Neuman.
Guests at the Peoria Zoo can see the new zebra, along with his 18-year-old female companion Phoebe, in the “Africa!” exhibit.
