PEORIA – A shooting in Peoria Saturday night left a 16-year-old boy hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the stomach, according to Peoria Police.
PPD Spokesperson Semone Roth says officers were called just after 10:30 p.m. to W. Timberedge Drive, east of Charter Oak Road on reports of a shooting.
While en route, officers were told the victim had been taken to a hospital in a private vehicle. But, they stopped the car on War Memorial Drive, near Charter Oak, and an ambulance took him the rest of the way.
The teen was listed in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police went to where the shots were fired and found a crime scene.
No suspect information has been released. The incident remains under investigation.
