UPDATE 4:24 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – A detention hearing will take place Wednesday for a teenager accused in the death of an 18-month-old child in South Peoria.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 18-year-old Amarian Billups-Wilson is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Clylen Ewing.
Prosecutors say Peoria Police officers found Ewing unresponsive and not breathing with visible facial injuries after they were called to Wiswall and Lincoln on Sunday just after 6:15 P.M.
Ewing was taken to a local hospital and later died, with an autopsy revealing multiple blunt force trauma injuries that include two rib fractures and a lung contusion.
Ewing’s mother reportedly told police that she left her four children in the care of Billups-Wilson the night before, with the other children reporting seeing Clylen struck multiple times, hit with shoes, and pushed down the stairs.
Billups-Wilson reportedly admitted to hitting Clylen multiple times to police, but claims he was unaware of how hard he was hitting him because he was allegedly intoxicated.
