PEORIA, Ill. – One man has pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery in connection with Facebook marketplace robbery that left one man dead.
20-year-old Keshawn Williams was one of five people charged in the case. And, it’s the second guilty plea that’s resulted from an investigation.
The first guilty plea came in September, 2024 when Jalyn Branscumb, 19, was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Two people came to Peoria to buy a car in January, 2024 with the purchase arranged through Facebook Marketplace. They were directed to a South Peoria alley where several people, including Williams, tried to rob them at gunpoint.
Gunfire was exchanged and one of the attempted robbers was killed.
The purchaser was not charged because it was determined the shooting was in self defense and the gun was legally owned.
Williams will be sentenced next month.
