PEORIA, Ill. – Over 150 teens, from youth groups from all over the country, are in Peoria this week.
They’re here for Mission Peoria with Dream Center Peoria.
“They are living here at the Dream Center Peoria for the week, and this is their mission trip for the week, serving at eight separate locations,” Dream Center Peoria’s Andy King says.
Though teenagers sometimes get a bad rap, these kids are focused on giving back, King adds.
“These are kids who really want to impact the city. Many of them are from the city, and a lot of them are not. And so it’s really cool to see a generation (that) really wants to make a difference.”
The teens will be doing mission projects across Peoria, leading Vacation Bible School, and helping the Dream Center prep 2,000 backpacks for this weekend’s Backpack Peoria event on Saturday morning.
