PEORIA, Ill. – A family was displaced by a fire Tuesday night in Peoria’s East Bluff.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin says an adult and three children got out safely before crews arrived around 8:20 p.m. at the home in the area of E. McClure and N. Wisconsin.
A family cat was rescued from the two-story home and given oxygen at the scene.
Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the second story. It took them only about five minutes to put the fire out.
Martin says the fire was contained to a single bedroom. A fire investigator determined electrical problems caused the fire.
There were no injuries reported. Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.
The Red Cross is providing temporary housing for the family.
