PEORIA, Ill. – A federal grand jury indicted four men on July 15 for allegedly dumping gasoline into the Pekin sewer system in 2021.
Court documents show the men, Matthew Mackey, Nicholas Johnson, Gary Williams, and David Driggers, III, were all employees at All Around Auto and Tire in Pekin when the dumping occurred in February and March of 2021.
According to 25 News, the 16-count indictment also accused the men of conspiring to violate the federal Clean Water Act. Court documents stated the gasoline could “create a fire or explosion hazard” inside the city treatment plant.
All four men could face five years in prison if convicted.
