BARTONVILLE, Ill. – Local veterans were on motorcycles Saturday to help other local veterans.
The 10th annual Central Illinois Vets for Vets ride took off Saturday morning from the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. The ride helps raise funds for veteran-related charities like the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, Fuller Center, and the Purple Heart Foundation.
Dennis McMurtrey, president of Vets for Vets, told 25 News, “It’s really a great thing. We give checks out as you might see in the presentation here that we give a lot of checks out to different military organizations and things like that, and is a great way for vets to feel welcome.”
The ride made several stops, including Chillicothe, Dunlap, and Washburn.
