PEORIA, Ill. – A man has been released from custody after he allegedly robbed a South Peoria gas station this past weekend.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says a petition to detain 26-year-old Sergio Delgado-Rodriguez was denied at a hearing on Monday. He was released with conditions that include GPS monitoring and to not possess a firearm or dangerous weapons. Prosecutors say a lack of a criminal history was a factor in the ruling.
Peoria Police responded to the BP Gas Station on Southwest Adams just before 2:30 A.M. Saturday, talking to an employee there.
The employee told police that a male suspect, later identified as Delgado-Rodriguez, allegedly entered the station, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. Prosecutors say the employee handed over $30.
Delgado-Rodriguez is charged with Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
