PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man will spend two decades in federal prison after violating conditions of his supervised release on child pornography charges.
53-year-old Michael Dupoy was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years for possession of child pornography, with two years added for violating terms of his supervised release, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release.
Prosecutors testified that Dupoy was convicted in 2008 to 18 years in prison for receipt of child pornography, followed by supervised release which started October of last year.
That same month, a United States Probation Officer noticed a 512GB memory card that Dupoy claimed was for movies. The card was seized and submitted for analysis. The memory card was discovered to have pictures and videos of child sexual abuse, including photos of children who came into the store where he worked.
Dupoy also reportedly had an unmonitored cell phone, which violated terms of his supervised release.
Dupoy was arrested in December last year, and pleaded guilty in April of this year.
U.S. District Judge Jonathan Hawley says the sentence given was necessary to protect the public and deter Dupoy from further criminal conduct, noting it started almost immediately after his release from prison.
