PEORIA, Ill. – We’re hopefully still months away from any snow, but Peoria Public Works is looking for groups to ‘Paint-A-Plow”.
“We open this program to the non-for-profits, local organizations and students to just add their own creative touches. There’s not really a lot of requirements. We’re pretty flexible,” says Public Works’ Nick McMillion.
Groups are encouraged to get creative decorating the snow plow blades used by the city’s Snowfighters. They can highlight seasonal winter themes, promote school spirit, or feature their own artwork in a unique way.
“It’s just a heart-warming experience all the way around…for everyone that actually participates in it, to the people that watch the plows go down the road in the winter time,” McMillion says.
Last year, 15 snow plow blades were painted by local groups, and up to 24 could be decorated this year, McMillion says.
The deadline to apply for Peoria’s “Paint-A-Plow” program is September 12.
