PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County prosecutors have filed a petition to detain a woman after she allegedly ran over her boyfriend with a car.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says a pre-trial detention hearing for 21-year-old Kayana Polk will take place on Friday.
She is charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery for the Tuesday night incident in the East Bluff, in the area of Frye and Wisconsin just after 9:45 P.M.
Prosecutors say a witness waiting for a bus spotted a car pull over, then the victim getting out and arguing with someone inside.
The car reportedly followed the victim as they were walking away and hit him, with a female identified as Polk getting out and yelling at the victim. Polk then reportedly got back into the vehicle and drove off.
The victim suffered a broken pelvis and required surgery.
Police later spotted the car and took Polk into custody, with Polk allegedly admitting during an interview to hitting the victim and fleeing.
