PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Prosecutors say a Chicago-area man charged in a shooting on the Bradley University campus allegedly carried a handgun with 30 rounds of ammunition.
The detention hearing for 19-year-old Edward Traywick, Jr. of Lansing will resume Tuesday in Peoria County Court.
Traywick is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm, both Class 4 felonies, after a woman was shot in the abdomen early Sunday morning in Geisert Hall.
It was revealed in court on Monday that a Bradley student left their dorm room and heard a loud noise.
25 News reports that surveillance video shows Traywick carrying the victim afterward. They were among four people in a car, presumably taking the victim to a hospital, investigators said.
Traywick had a 9 mm Glock handgun with 30 rounds of ammunition, authorities said.
He faces up to three years in prison if found guilty of either charge.
Traywick will be back in court before Associate Judge Mark Gilles on Tuesday.
