PEORIA, Ill. – A busy intersection near Bradley University will be closed for the next few weeks.
Peoria Public Works says that starting on Wednesday, the intersection of Moss and MacArthur Highway will close to all traffic.
The closure is part of the Moss Avenue Reconstruction project.
The closure is expected to last around three weeks, weather permitting.
The affected areas include:
- Moss Avenue closed to through traffic between Garfiend and Duryea, only residential traffic will be allowed in the area
- MacArthur between John H. Gwynn Jr. and Bradley
The city is suggesting detour routes in the affected areas:
Moss Avenue Traffic
- W. Moss Avenue through traffic between N. MacArthur Highway and N. Western Avenue should utilize W. Bradley Avenue.
- W. Moss Avenue through traffic between N. MacArthur Highway and N. Sheridan Road should utilize N. Sheridan Road.
- W. Moss Avenue remains one-way traffic between N. MacArthur Highway and N. Western Avenue.
MacArthur Highway Traffic
- Southbound through traffic on N. MacArthur Highway should utilize Main Street to S.W. Monroe Street to W. Romeo B. Garrett Avenue to N. Richard Pryor Place to Jefferson Avenue.
- Northbound through traffic on N. MacArthur Highway should utilize Hurlburt Street to N. Richard Pryor Place to W. Romeo B. Garrett Avenue to S.W. Monroe Street to Main Street.
